The Academy Pathway

Great players are built through clear structure, not guesswork.

This development pathway provides a progressive route for young cricketers, from early foundations to advanced performance-focused training. Each stage is deliberately designed to match the physical, technical, tactical, and mental demands of the player, ensuring development is purposeful, challenging, and aligned with long-term success.

1:1 Coaching Support — Tailored Technical & Tactical Progression

Individual support for technical, tactical, and confidence development

Want to accelerate specific areas of your game? These sessions are for players who want deeper insight and personalised development

Step 3 - Performance Track (within the Development Academy)

Some players within the Development Academy train with an increased performance focus. These sessions place greater emphasis on intensity, decision-making, and game realism, while maintaining the same long-term development principles.

Step 2 - Development Academy (Ages 9–15)

Focus: Skill development, game understanding, and confidence

The Development Academy forms the core of the pathway and is designed for players who want to improve properly over time.

Players work on:

  • technical skill development across batting, bowling, and fielding

  • understanding the game and making better decisions under pressure

  • building confidence, resilience, and positive training habits

Sessions are grouped into narrower age bands to ensure coaching is relevant, challenging, and appropriate to each stage of development.

Within the Development Academy, some players will train with a higher performance focus. These players are challenged more intensely within sessions, with greater emphasis on:

  • execution under pressure

  • decision-making

  • accountability and standards

Selection for higher performance focus is based on attitude, commitment, and readiness, not just ability.

Step 1 - Mini Academy (Ages 6–8)

Focus: Confidence, movement, and fundamentals

The Mini Academy is the entry point into structured coaching and is built around developing confident, capable young movers who enjoy the game.

Sessions focus on:

  • fundamental movement skills

  • basic cricket skills (batting, bowling, throwing, catching)

  • coordination, balance, and agility

  • confidence and enjoyment in a supportive environment

At this stage, the priority is not performance or outcomes, but creating positive early experiences that set players up for long-term development.

Sessions are delivered on Saturday mornings at Reigate College and are designed to be engaging, active, and age-appropriate, while still introducing clear coaching habits and expectations.

This programme is ideal for young players who are new to cricket or beginning to take an interest in structured coaching.
